Klopp Expects Tough Southampton Return For £75m Van Dijk

Klopp admitted he will speak to Van Dijk about maintaining his concentration at St. Mary's, but expects him to rise above the baiting.

"I don't think that anybody in Southampton would say we've stolen him or something. But with us I feel we are in a good situation to play against them".

"The people in Southampton, since I am in, they were always really nice with Clyney, I don't know exactly why; Adam Lallana, obviously they missed the most; Dejan Lovren; Sadio Mane I think was OK, I'm not 100 per cent sure, and then Virgil is the last one so that's how it is".

'I sleep twice before we play Southampton so maybe I'll change my mind so we will see'. It will be more normal in the future, now we have to go there and play football and nothing else. Will it have influence? Is it nice? I don't think so.

Klopp said: 'We are all human beings, we are influenced by circumstances.

Who will start for Liverpool against Southampton?

Last summer, Reds officials were forced to publicly apologise to Southampton abandon their original pursuit of Van Dijk amid accusations of "tapping up".

Klopp joked that Southampton fans may now be "really happy" given the record £75million fee which was sent to the south coast. In the moment when we have something to say, then we can say it. "Virgil is part of the past". We'd only have two left - not too cool! I will talk to him of course.

Jurgen Klopp has given the lowdown on the role that new goalkeeping consultant Hans Leitert will fulfill. But Pellegrino admitted they will have to be nearly "perfect" if they are to continue that run. "That's all", the Liverpool boss added.

"How football fans are, they want to disturb what we do".

Emre Can of Liverpool (R) celebrates as he scores their first goal with Jordan Henderson during the Premier League match between Huddersfield Town and Liverpool at John Smith's Stadium on January 30, 2018 in Huddersfield, England. They will want to show their quality but we have our own targets.

"Now, we have to be focused in our game, in what we have to do".
