Seattle hosting Kings-Warriors preseason game

According to a report from the Sacramento Bee, Kevin Durant is coming back to Emerald City this fall and bringing the Golden State Warriors with him for a preseason game against the Sacramento Kings that will be played in the Sonics former home - Key Arena.

Warriors All-Star Kevin Durant made his National Basketball Association debut as a member of the Sonics before spending the ensuing eight seasons with the Thunder.

In case you didn't know.

The Kings were reportedly on the move to Seattle in 2013 until the move was denied by the NBA Board of Governors.

The heart of the matter.

The NBA is returning to Seattle.well, sort of. As part of a plan to bring an National Hockey League and NBA team to Seattle in the future, the Key Arena will be undergoing a massive renovation beginning in October, which means the game will likely be played elsewhere.

Last March, the NBA announced the Warriors would play two preseason games in China against the Minnesota Timberwolves as part of the NBA Global Games China 2017.

Voisin adds that the contract for the game has not been signed yet, but that is just a formality. Seattle basketball fans have been lobbying for the return of a professional basketball franchise in the city since the Sonics left in 2008. It'll present a good opportunity for players to compete in a different arena in-front of a new group of supporters, whilst there are various storylines which make this a special occasion besides the competitive aspect behidn pre-season matches.
