Newcastle Nemesis Jermain Defoe Could Return To Bournemouth Squad This Weekend

The Magpies looked like making it back-to-back Premier League wins after Dwight Gayle twice pounced on poor goalkeeping from Asmir Begovic.

"We had a couple of chances to score the third goal and we made two mistakes and we conceded two goals and at the end they were pushing with corners and crosses, it was very hard for us".

"We can see him on the far side and there doesn't appear to be a problem...but all of a sudden Lewis Cook starts to move and Jonjo Shelvey doesn't".

Slimani's misfortune comes at a time when there is real positivity within the Newcastle camp following the shock 1-0 win over Manchester United in their last outing.

"Everyone was expecting him to make the difference, but after the game against Manchester United we at least feel we have enough quality in the squad", the Spanish manager added.

"He's a player with all the potential to do well and I think it's too soon (for him to move)".

"Adam Smith is an excellent full-back and I thought he did very well down that left-half side. We knew he was carrying a small injury, he'd had little problems but in the last day he had to stop and check again". For the first ten minutes I thought we were going to produce a good performance, and the goals were probably the turning point.

"We are aware they are unsafe opposition, and we respect them a lot".

Bournemouth Manager Eddie Howe has been given a massive injury boost ahead of the game against Newcastle United this weekend with the news that star striker Jermain Defoe is back in full training.

"The team has confidence in terms of a lot of the things we have done well and we have to be sure that next time we are positive and try to do things in the same way and avoid these mistakes".

"We had to find a way to open them up".
