No. 2 Michigan State wins 13th in row, beats Wisconsin 63-60


The Nittany Lions upset Ohio State for the third time this season on Friday, now faces a Purdue team it only lost by three to on the road back on February 18.

Wagner's early second-half surge gave MI a lead it would never give up, knocking off the top-seeded Spartans, 75-64, in front of a roaring sellout of 19,812.

The Spartans got on-top for good when Matt McQuaid hit a 3-pointer with 1:30 remaining.

“This group kept persevering and battling and getting better, ” Wisconsin coach Greg Gard said. But Sanders missed the front end of the 1-and-1, and Carsen Edwards and Vincent Edwards each hit two free throws to make it a three-possession game with 15.6 seconds left. Wagner leads MI with an average of 14.3 points and 7 rebounds per game while Simpson leads the Wolverines in assists with 3.6 assists per game this season. Jackson, who was in foul trouble all game, converted a three-point play to push the lead to 56-51.

After Wagner (15 points, eight rebounds) finally ended his drought and scored his first field goal of the game 2:26 into the second half, he went on to score again on two of the next three possessions. However, it's continual problems with turnovers and the inability to get to the basket in its half-court offense will keep this game tight. Bridges started the run with two free throws, added a 3-pointer in transition and then saw Winston close the half with another 3-pointer just before the buzzer.
