New NCAA tournament selection show format will reveal teams in alphabetical order

Five teams have already punched their tickets to the NCAA tournament, including MI, which won the Big Ten title on Sunday.

Thirty-two teams that don't make the March Madness field get this distinction, and every year the competition contains solid schools that fell short in their conference tournaments.

For the first time, the Selection Show will air on TBS and the bracket reveal will be handled differently than in the past, CBS Sports and Turner Sports announced Tuesday. We just didn't know how much after winning the Big Ten title in NY over the weekend.

Throughout the week, espnW will continue to preview the biggest names and matchups, including a profile on OR sophomore Sabrina Ionescu, who is among the must-see players in the women's game.

The news of the announcement of all 68 teams up-front was met with a lot of skepticism by fans on social media. So it will be worth the wait. You work around it. We also give our predictions on how the tournament will obviously shake out since the SEC has been so clear this season.

Purdue: The Boilermakers beat MI in the regular season twice by a total of five points.

Michigan's run to the title game included wins over Iowa, Nebraska and Michigan State in less than 48 hours to reach its fourth tournament championship game.

As of March 5, MI is ranked No. 9 on KenPom.com, the highest the team has been ranked all season.

Now, we know and the jump for MI basketball was significant, just like it should have been.

"A little nerve-wracking thinking about it". "Within the first 50 minutes, hopefully, we'll have everything done". This year the NCAA is now using a quadrant system that bases wins and losses off of location and the team's rank.

"We lost a year ago in the first game and went to the Sweet 16 and that was coming off being Big Ten champs, " Thompson said.

But the Big East has the Garden locked up through 2026 the week before the NCAA selection show. The Big Ten Tournament began in 1998, and also was between MI and Purdue.

"If they're a 4 (seed), they're probably going out west", CBS Sports bracketologist Jerry Palm said.

If only that same approach translated to a three-days-in-three-games format.

The Longhorns are 18-13 and have two wins against Oklahoma on their resume, but beating the Sooners isn't as impressive as it looked at the time. "I think coaches will figure something out".
