NYPD ready to arrest Harvey Weinstein, awaiting DA's go-ahead

During a press conference that same day, NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce said that the investigation is still underway and added that "it's going very, very well", but stopped short of saying that they were ready to arrest Weinstein.

The probe comes after Boardwalk Empire actress Paz de la Huerta said in October Weinstein had raped her twice in 2010.

On top of that, the New York State Attorney General's office has a civil suit against him.

Evans' case is apparently the stronger of the two cases being pursued, however detectives found both women believable.

Per TheWrap, Boyce also noted that an indictment is entirely in the hands of District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance, Jr. "I would ask you to ask him. his schedule. where it goes forward".

She said she agreed to a daytime meeting at Weinstein's office after he offered to give her professional guidance, but instead he allegedly forced her to perform oral sex on him.

She says the forums heard unacceptable behaviour - from creepy comments and jokes through to sexual assault - are part of a culture which has to change.

Boyce says witnesses are prepared to testify before a grand jury, which would determine whether Weinstein is indicted.

Boyce said investigators have been working diligently with women who alleged Weinstein raped them.

"We are still accumulating evidence", he said.

SVU detectives are reportedly facing speed bumps in Evans' case over her reluctance to deal with Vance's office - which might be due to Vance's failure to authorize Weinstein's arrest in 2015 for groping Ambra Battilana Gutierrez.

Meanwhile the other three cases in NY against Weinstein are still developing.

Weinstein is also being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department, who are looking at five cases of sexual harassment against Weinstein.
