City could have the Premier League mathematically wrapped up by the time they are next in Champions League action in early April. This could even blossom into a treble, with the club through to the Champions League quarter-finals.

"You have to speak with the journalist about if my agent is here or not, they know this information, the journalist has more information than me".

Pep Guardiola has suggested that he hates playing on Mondays because it brings him misfortune, despite plenty of evidence to the contrary.

"You will find in all the clubs in the world that when you make six or seven changes, always the team is not the same", he said.

City still easily progressed 5-2 on aggregate, but Guardiola will want to see more from his players in the run-in if they are to realise their dreams of winning a treble.

"Of course the goal he scored will be good for his confidence".

There are still chances for Premier League sides Manchester United and Chelsea next week.

One bright spot was the performance of 17-year-old midfielder Phil Foden, who became the youngest English player to feature in the knockout stage of the Champions League and delivered a composed performance throughout.

'We've picked up points everywhere other than in the Bournemouth game (a 2-1 away loss) and we just need that little bit of luck at certain times. His low cross was tapped in at the back post by Jesus, making his first start of 2018.

Elyounoussi equalised for Raphael Wicky's men in the 17th minute after Gabriel Jesus opened the scoring, before he turned provider in the second half as Michael Lang netted the victor. It was his first goal in his last 14 appearances.

Mohamed Elyounoussi and Holger Lang found the net for the visitors, who came from behind to win after Gabriel Jesus had opened the scoring, his first goal since returning from injury.

In the 72nd minute, Michael Lang blasted past City goalkeeper Claudio Bravo at the near post for his second victor against Manchester clubs this season. Nobody thought we could lose against Basel and we lost against Basel.
