Akhilesh Yadav thanks Mayawati after UP bypolls win

Addressing the topic of a future alliance with the Congress Party, Yadav steered clear of any concrete answer, and quipped, "Our relations were good with Congress and they will be so in future".

He also said that the bypoll results send a strong political message in national politics. "This result is a reflection of the anger due to that".

This win is a victory of social justice. "Both the governments did not live up to people's expectations by making false promises", he pointed.

Launching a scathing attack on Yogi Adityanath he said "If the government put its people in pain, then people give a befitting reply to the government. People have come together to bring BJP's burey din (bad days)". Will SP's vote base elect BSP candidates? On the floor of the House he said that he does not celebrate Eid because he was a Hindu. What kind of mentality is this.

While Shivpal praised the SP leadership for the victory in the crucial Lok Sabha bypolls, he did not take the name of his nephew Akhilesh Yadav under whose leadership the party managed to defeat BJP which is now in power in the state.

While Akhilesh Yadav had thanked the BSP chief who he fondly calls "Buaji" (aunt) at a hurriedly-called press conference in the evening, he created a flutter in political circles here as his cavalcade drove from his Vikramaditya Marg residence to the sprawling bungalow of Mayawati at Mall Avenue, a kilometre away.

Sporting the "brand SP" red cap, Akhilesh Yadav merely waved at the waiting media on his return and said nothing.

Samajwadi Party candidate from Phulpur Nagendra Pratap Singh Patel was leading by 29,474 with 2,18,963 votes, BJP's Kaushlendra Singh Patel second with 1,89,489 votes after 20th round of counting.
