Snow postpones Martinsville NASCAR race to Monday

It's not often that snow interferes with NASCAR race weekends, but it does happen on occasion.

On Sunday, it was announced the Cup series race at Martinsville Speedway had been postponed to Monday due to inclement weather.

Both air on Fox Sports 1, Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

The Truck Series race will resume at 11 a.m. Monday, followed by the Cup Series race at 2 p.m.

Kyle Busch
Kyle Busch will roll of second Sunday

Martin Truex Jr. is on the pole, with Kyle Busch joining him on the front row.

There was no qualifying session for the Cup Series because of a wintry mix that moved through the Virginia area and halted the Truck Series race after just 23 laps Saturday. The most recent victor at Martinsville, Kyle Busch, starts second.

The last time a Cup Series race was postponed because of snow was 1993 in Atlanta.

The continuation of the Truck Series race was going to be run under the lights, at approximately 7:00 p.m. Saturday night. The Alpha Energy Solutions 250 will restart at 11 a.m. with pole victor Ben Rhodes as the leader.
