Pochettino refuses to rule Harry Kane out of Chelsea clash

Pochettino refuses to rule Harry Kane out of Chelsea clash

Kane is recovering from his injury suffered against Bournemouth earlier this month.

"It is hard now to say if he will be involved this weekend - I can not say no and I can not say yes - but maybe next weekend".

"I can not say no, but I can not say yes", Pochettino added.

However Pochettino, whose side last won at Chelsea in 1990 before Kane was born, told a press conference on Thursday that his star striker had made remarkable progress.

Kane might have pulled off a seemingly miraculous recovery but the truth of the matter is that he will still be feeling the effects of his layoff, in terms of both the actual injury as well as hit fitness. "Every day he is improving", said Pochettino.

"Arsenal, Chelsea are always tough games because they are derbies".

Both players were involved in worldwide duty this week, and will be checked on before the crucial matchup.

"Of course, [it's] always not only advice, [it] is talk [aimed at] trying to help the players, to help the players when they need to be pushed". But for sure it will be a very tough game.

"For us today he was very good, he was fresh, he was fit and I am happy with the way he showed his fitness", Poch added.

Pochettino, who ranks Spurs' rivalry with Chelsea on a par with Arsenal, does not think it is a winner-takes-all game.

With that in mind, here's how we at HITC Sport suspect Tottenham could look, with three changes - Hugo Lloris (Michel Vorm), Mousa Dembele (Moussa Sissoko) and Dele Alli (Lucas Moura) - introduced from their 3-0 FA Cup victory at Swansea City.

"[We do not need] to control them in their rooms, because surely we are going to be in the hotel waiting for the game, but we can not put cameras [in their rooms] and see what they are doing".

Pochettino said: "It is always a massive game, because it is a London derby". We are focused, and we must be focused on the win and the performance.

Harry Winks will miss out with an ankle injury, but Toby Alderweireld is hoping to be involved.
