76ers star Joel Embiid could return from injury in two weeks

The Sixers have already clinched a spot in the Eastern Conference playoffs.

However, that has now all changed.

But until then, Embiid's Twitter feed will have to keep us going.

Depending how quickly he recovers, Embiid could miss the start of the playoffs.

The Sixers' big man underwent surgery Saturday to fix an orbital bone fracture in his left eye, which he endured Wednesday during a collision with Markelle Fultz.

The postseason begins on April 14, and the 76ers are sure to be a part of the playoffs.

And that's a real shame.

Just when it looked like Joel Embiid might finally play a full season for the Philadelphia 76ers, he had a collision with teammate Markelle Fultz earlier this week that brought those hopes to an abrupt end.

The question is, how far will the Sixers fall in the standings with Embiid injured?

Memphis closed to within 93-89 on a driving layup from Dillon Brooks but they pulled away for good when Exum hit a pair of layups and Ingles dunked the ball over three straight possessions to make it 104-91 with 2:30 left.

Barring some extended losing streak, the Sixers seem to be locked into the 4th or 5th seed in the East.

JJ Redick scored 11 of his 19 points in the third as Philadelphia did as it pleased with the undermanned Hawks, who learned before the game that scoring and assists leader Dennis Schroder will miss the rest of the season. But down the stretch, they need their superstar. With him on the floor, the 76ers were one of the best defensive teams in basketball, and a bottom-tier group without him.
