Insomniac's Spider-Man PS4 game coming September, collector's edition revealed

Everyone here at Insomniac Games is thrilled to announce that Marvel's Spider-Man will launch on Friday, September 7, 2018 exclusively for the PlayStation 4 system. As Game Informer launches a month-long torrent of coverage, today kicked off with a release date reveal, alternate costumes, details about extra playable characters, technical and visual details, and more! More details on what the DLC is exactly will be announced later.

This may leave some to believe that the exclusivity has something to do with Sony's rights to Spider-Man.

According to Chandler Wood of PlayStation LifeStyle, the box art features Spider-Man in an iconic, comic-inspired pose with an appropriate red background.

And since we're talking about "looks", Black Cat will also be "involved" in the game, but there is no further info on what role she'll play. The issue will contain a wealth of information regarding the project's missions, side missions, open-world design, upgrade paths, crafting, and combat.

With Sony publishing the game, that didn't stop some fans from asking if it'll be coming out for the Xbox One.

Based on what the Nerdist's Blair Marnell reports, the new Spider-Man game looks rather incredible. There are a lot of sidequests to take in the game. We'll know soon, apparently. We'd expect Spider-Man to arrive either later this Summer or this Fall.

Insomniac debuted their first gameplay trailer during the Sony PlayStation press conference following up with some full gameplay a year later at E3 2017. It's too spoilery to show you now, but stay tuned! The game takes on numerous hallmarks of the Batman Arkham games that went on to assume numerous top spots in video game top ten lists.

Gamers can purchase the title through retail or digital stores for $59.99. It'll be "just like Ratchet & Clank." .
