Alexa Announcements: How to broadcast your voice to all your Echos

You can now turn all your smart speakers into a home PA system as you can now make one-way intercom messages through your Alexa voice assistant.

Users can order Alexa to "announce" something in one Echo device, and then it will transmit the announcement throughout all the devices in the house. The feature makes it easy to communicate to everyone in your home where an Echo speaker is present.

Since it launched on April 5, 2018, Alexa Announcements only works on Echo devices in the USA and Canada.

Which devices work with Alexa Announcements? Amazon is rolling out the feature in a software update this week.

The intercom skill is now rolling out for Alexa-enabled speakers in the U.S. and Canada.

Mortgage Brain chief executive Mark Lofthouse says: "We're incredibly excited and very proud to announce the launch of the first ever UK Mortgage Skill on Amazon's Echo devices".

Amazon calls such products "an example of how Alexa can be integrated into products already found in the home" and has high hopes they will take off in the not too distant feature.

The "Announcements" feature can also be activated by saying things like "Alexa, tell everyone..." or "Alexa, broadcast..." The latter could be accomplished using Alexa on your smartphone or directly from your auto if it has full Alexa integration (which is found in some newer vehicles like the recently announced 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback). You'll eventually be able to use it with all other Amazon devices that have Alexa since some of them are starting to get hands-free Alexa mode like the Fire 7 and Fire HD8.

Aside from Drop In and Announcements, Amazon's Alexa also allows users to call or send a message.
