As he wrapped up his immigration remarks, Trump held up a copy of his prepared speech.

The president was flanked to his right by U.S. Rep. Evan Jenkins, R-W.Va., and to his left by state Attorney General Patrick Morrisey, both of whom are seeking to take on Manchin in the general election in November. Other politicians in Trump's party dropped the talking point.

Lawmakers were also in attendance at the round-table discussion.

President Donald Trump landed at the Greenbrier Valley Airport before his busy day in West Virginia.

Trump also noted he'd been criticized for saying in his campaign kickoff speech that Mexico was sending rapists across the border.

Trump carried West Virginia by almost 68 points in the 2016 election. "I thank you for listening to us, thank you for fighting for us, thank you for caring enough to allow us the opportunity to come here and tell you thank you to your face".

At a tax event in West Virginia on Thursday, Trump says that "in many places, like California, the same person votes many times".

"Our staff is the heart and soul of what makes Citizens successful as a small community bank", said bank President Nathaniel Bonnell.

While the visit Thursday focused on the tax plan, many supporters shared other policies, both at home and overseas, that they believe are helping the mountain state.

Although Trump's administration billed the event as an official visit to tout the benefit of the tax cut package Trump signed into law previous year, Trump literally threw away his single page of prepared remarks and delved into 20 freewheeling minutes, alternating between policy points and political jabs. No other country has such a policy, he said. "Eighty-four percent of the freight of this country moves exclusively on a truck". "Everybody said 'Oh, he was so tough.' I used the word rape".

While two of the families on stage came from Hurricane and Huntington, the third were the Lillys of Ghent. Many in the group said the tax overhaul has helped them to the tune of thousands of dollars in savings. "How much will Republicans cut from Medicare and Social Security?"

"Our family was blessed a lot by the tax cuts", Lilly said before handing the microphone to his wife.

"Instead of the political posturing back and forth, West Virginians deserve answers, and the only thing that matters today is did these questions get answered in White Sulphur Springs", Manchin wrote. Each family shared their heartfelt story, including Elizabeth Lilly, who was able to watch her daughter thrive in a new sport.

While the tax cut included reductions in the individual tax rate, the greatest decrease was in the corporate tax rate which dropped from 35 percent to 21 percent.

Details about the President's arrival are very limited, but officials said he is expected to land in Lewisburg. "Maybe Joe won't, but most people will", he said. Those in the crowd cheered each time Trump mentioned plans to build a wall along the southern border of the United States.

An early supporter of the tax cut, Sen.

"There is already some fencing there, but it has been identified as a possibility to reinforce it", she said.

"A growing economy is going to help every single county in the bottom line", Capito said. "And it hasn't, and I don't know why it hasn't". "I think you're going to see that from now on".
