Dwayne Johnson Confirms Planned 2019 Filming Start Date For 'Black Adam'

We're pretty excited for this game - especially if Johnson has to improvise a little - but so are the wrestler-turned-movie star's friends apparently, because they won't stop texting him. And instead of appearing in next year's DCEU installment, Johnson will first appear in a solo Black Adam movie before eventually facing off against the superhero Shazam, played by Zachary Levi.

But the film's director, David F. Sandberg, recently confirmed that's now not going to be the case.

If they can pull that off, fans should be happy.

Dwayne Johnson says that he thinks that DC Comics' Black Adam movie will start shooting in 2019, meaning that the film might come to cinemas in 2020.

Speaking to Yahoo Entertainment, he explained: "Marvel is doing such an incredible job of universe building. and DC is doing a great job finding the footing and tone of their movies". I look forward to James Wan's movie that's coming out, with Aquaman.

"Also we have intrinsic DNA tied to a lot of other properties in DC."
Normally the big U.S. shows with fabulous prizes happen way past my bed time, but tonight it's going to be at the much more reasonable 8.45pm United Kingdom time.

As such, the actor's next big project will find him entering into the DCEU as Shazam's nemesis Black Adam - a project that's been in the works for nearly a decade.

Since then - we've seen exactly zero of Black Adam on the big screen.

The most likely option is that Black Adam will show up in Shazam!

Johnson's remarks here sound eerily familiar to something he told MTV News nearly a year ago to the day. But what may surprise general audiences is a potential appearance in Gavin O'Connor's Suicide Squad 2.

But Dwayne remains committed to the "Black Adam" project and is confident that DC knows what it is doing.
