PS5 is "Unlikely to Release in 2019, Let Alone 2018"

PS5 is

They added that they expect the PS5 to launch sometime in 2020, though they warned that plans for a multi-year project keep shifting both forward and backward. The PlayStation 4 launched seven years after PlayStation 3, and Xbox One launched eight years after Xbox 360.

Two unnamed developers that Schreier spoke with claimed that they had knowledge of Sony's newest system, with both of them claiming the system wouldn't be out until 2019 at the very earliest. It would be nearly suicidal of Sony to steal the spotlight out of PlayStation 4 right when it's more profitable and some of the best games are just coming out.

What about the supposed PlayStation 5 development kits? Priced at Rs. 38,990, the PS4 Pro supports 4K resolution gameplay and also comes with HDR capabilities.

After the recent SemiAccurate report, Kotaku has investigated the possibility that a PlayStation 5 could be coming in 2018 or 2019, ruling it out based on the different sources it was able to communicate with during and after the GDC. According to a report from Kotaku, the new console apparently already exists, but Sony has yet to determine when it will be releasing it to the public. While it was previously rumored that dev kits for the PlayStation 5 had been sent out to developers, with this speculation suggesting that the PS5 would be released sooner rather than later, the console is instead more likely to launch in 2020 than it is in the next two years.

Being attentive to reports gives you that Sony provided the devkits of PS5 to several studios.

That's because early development kits for any console don't resemble that console's final form at all.

It's been almost five years since the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One launched. The devs are the first to find out any such news because they need to start making games for the console.

Also in the report is word that the PS5 will play games that do not run on PS4, so this sounds like it could be a big step up.

Likewise, the source also had the inside scoop on the PlayStation 4 specs.

However, just because logic dictates that it's possible doesn't mean Sony will make that scenario happen.
