Guardiola: City Are Not UCL Flops

Pep Guardiola has ruled Sergio Aguero out of Manchester City's trip to Tottenham Hotspur tonight and cast doubt over whether the Argentine will feature again this season as he struggles to return to full fitness.

The Citizens have raced well clear of the chasing pack, finding themselves 13 points clear of closest challengers United with a month of the campaign left to go.

And Guardiola is expecting a tough test against Tottenham as City look to bounce back from three straight defeats in all competitions.

And Guardiola is clearly taking no chances as he played down City's chances of securing the title sooner rather than later, saying: 'It can happen.

"It can happen. Football is emotional".

"All the other contenders, after losing a game, have maybe lost another one - and we didn't do that". We handled the pressure between the good and bad moments for the entire season, not just in this period.

Silva has made more starts this season than most of his teammates, but after he turned 32 this season, Pep Guardiola is already planning for the future. We have to handle that. "Hopefully he will be ready for last games and World Cup", Guardiola said of the Argentine, who was injured in a tackle by United's Ashley Young that could have resulted in a penalty.

"In football it can happen, of course it can, I assure you", Guardiola said.

Liverpool's bold approach has contrasted to most when faced with the might of City's attacking arsenal and Jurgen Klopp has been rewarded with three wins in four meetings with the runaway Premier League leaders this season.

"He played the last 20 minutes (against Liverpool) and after the game said: "I can not run, I have a lot of pain, I can not run". Cavaliers won against Golden State Warriors 4-3.

"But it's in our hands, we don't depend on anyone else, and that's a good advantage".

Should they fail to get one of them against Tottenham at Wembley on Saturday, United would then have the chance to eat further into their lead as they play on Sunday and Wednesday.

"When the opponent is good, we will congratulate our opponents on beating us, and after learn from that for the next game".
