Amazon, Best Buy get smart in new TV retail deal

Amazon's other goal is to get the end user to buy digital goods like music and videos, as well as physical products - all manner of products - from their digital store. While Best Buy and Amazon announced the deal Wednesday, the companies' CEOs, Hubert Joly and Jeff Bezos, sat side by side talking about the deal with a handful of reporters on Tuesday. The first step in the new partnership will see Best Buy launch more than 10 4K and HD Fire TV edition models from Insignia and Toshiba, starting this summer.

'Couldn't I just buy an Amazon Fire TV?' .

Through an exclusive partnership, Best Buy will begin to offer more than ten different models of TVs with support for Amazon's Alexa assistant.

Amazon and Best Buy are teaming to bring the next generation of Fire TV Edition smart televisions to market in the USA and Canada. If someone thinks about buying a new pair of shoes, Amazon's goal is to sell them those shoes before they change their mind - basically. "What we're doing is so deeply integrated", Bezos told the WSJ.

This partnership also shows that Amazon realizes it needs to cooperate with retailers as it becomes more of a hardware company, Baker said. Showrooming is the consumer practice of visiting a store or stores in order to examine a product before buying it online at a lower price. Customer reviews, 1-Click shopping, personalized recommendations, Prime, Fulfillment by Amazon, AWS, Kindle Direct Publishing, Kindle, Fire tablets, Fire TV, Amazon Echo, and Alexa are some of the products and services pioneered by Amazon. Canadian customers will also be able to buy the TVs later in 2018.

The partnership is a win-win for the online giant and Best Buy.

Best Buy and Amazon have been fierce competitors over the years.

It will continue to add new Alexa skills, software features, and applications to the smart TV platform after launch to provide even more value for money to customers.
