God Of War GOTY Prospect, Solving One Of Gaming's Greatest Hang-ups

God of War may look extra purdy with those mountains of snow glistening and Kratos' facial fuzz gently fluttering in the cold, Norse air - but that's no good if you can't see the game in all of its beauty.

Putting aside any console/PC rivalry, it seems that PS4-exclusive God of War is a fantastic game. One thing I didn't expect to enjoy in terms of action is a combat technique I've been refusing to use across several games for years.

Interestingly, the game has indeed hugely wonderful reviews as it has achieved a Metascore of 95/100 on Metacritic, beating a behemoth such as The Last of Us Remastered (94/100).

Until the latest God of War.

In developing the game, Sony Santa Monica held nothing sacred and core systems have been completely revised. If you have been waiting to play the game, surely you know that there are many people in various parts of the world who are excited about its arrival. This is a special game, and it deserves every hour you're willing to spend with it.

God Of War comes out today, but unless you pre-ordered it months ago you wouldn't have got your copy from Amazon.

As someone playing it right now, I can tell you, he really didn't.

Anticipation around God Of War has been high ever since the reimagining of the story was announced nearly two years ago.

Yes, Atreus' mother doesn't have much of a role in God of War, what with her being dead and all. The complexity of the combat relies more on the Axe that you can throw and summon at any given point during battle. If the quest marker is telling you to go down one road but another is next to it that you haven't explored, see what's over there first.

The reason why he didn't want cutscenes in God Of War was that he didn't think cinematics are necessary for a narrative but the world itself should be the narrative. Kratos no longer wields the Blades of Chaos, insteading taking on Leviathan, a shorter range but still devastating war axe. God of War follows the trait of recently launched game, Far Cry 5, and includes several side missions to unlock new mysteries, develop new characters, and gather unique and powerful rewards. If you fill the Stun meter, you can grab them and kill them instantly (or, for tougher enemies, deal a lot of damage).
