Yankees' Tyler Austin out of Saturday's lineup against Jays

It was Judge's fourth career homer off Stroman, who has struggled so far this season on the mound for the Blue Jays. Updates with new lead.

The home run - a 443-foot moonshot into the upper deck of Yankee Stadium - scored Brett Gardner to give the Yankees their first lead of the game in the third inning.

Most notably, left-hander starter Jordan Montgomery came up big in a one-run, six-inning outing and rookie third baseman Miguel Andujar was 2-for-4 with a bases-clearing double in the sixth. He can beat them in other ways, too.

The Medford, NY native flirted with his form of 2017 Saturday, but also displayed his recent command issues, handing out four walks and surrendering eight runs (six earned) over 5.1 innings in the Blue Jays' 9-1 loss to the New York Yankees.

"He wins so many pitches over the course of the game up there".

"We got to circle the wagons around him and help him get through this because he's important to us", Manager Aaron Boone said. Stroman grooved a 3-0 two-seam fastball on the inner half of the plate, and Judge had the green light.

"It's the desire I've always had of improving", Gurriel said.

Cameras showed a young girl in the crowd ended up with the ball.

"I think he's just really in tune with what he wants to do up there and he goes up there and executes and wins a lot of pitches". That has been good enough for a second-place spot in the AL East and early possession of an AL Wild Card spot.

The floodgates opened for the Yankees in the sixth.

The ball bounced off Maile's glove as Judge slid in safely. The Yankees now lead the Blue Jays 9-1 through eight innings. Austin is still facing a five-game suspension in the coming days, but until he hears back about his appeal he deserves to get more reps than Walker at the moment. Stroman wasn't sharp in his latest effort, conceding four runs on nine hits in five innings to the Indians, however he finished with the no decision in a game Toronto won.

Everywhere you looked Saturday, outside of Giancarlo Stanton's bat, there were pluses.

Down 2-0, the Jays got a run back in the fifth, but Montgomery limited the damage and the Yankees maintained the lead.

The right-handed Marcus Stroman is projected to start for the visiting Blue Jays.

I am taking the the Blue Jays in this contest.

If you haven't been paying attention, that's not a good thing.

Gurriel Jr. had a.347 batting average in 12 games with the Fisher Cats. He surpassed Mark McGwire, who did it in 205 games. Gibbons also opted to give 1B Justin Smoak a day off.

The Bombers (10-9) are back above.500.

Chasen Shreve pitched a flawless seventh and Jonathan Holder was ideal over the final two innings for NY. C Gary Sanchez was given the day off after catching Friday night's game.

Aaron Boone often has found sunlight in the darkest of alleys. He said before the game that he's seeing improvement with his symptoms. In his 16.1 innings and 2-0 record this year, Garcia has a 3.86 ERA with 17 Ks and five BBs.

When the New York Yankees made the deal to acquire Sonny Gray last season, they thought they'd acquired a front line starter.
