Xiaomi Mi 6X is now official

Coming with 3,010 mAh battery and Quick Charge 3.0 support, the Xiaomi Mi 6X will be offered in five colors - Cherry Pink, Flame Red, Sand Gold, Glacier Blue, and Black.

The Mi 6X launches on April 27 at 1,599 yuan (~$253) for the 4GB RAM+64GB storage variant, 1,799 yuan (~$285) for the 6GB+64GB model, and 1,999 yuan (~$316) for the top-end 6GB+128GB device.

The Mi 6X is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 660 octa-core chipset, 4 or 6GB of RAM, 64 or 128GB of internal storage which is expandable, and a marginally smaller 2,910mAh battery. Unfortunately, however, the Xiaomi Mi 6X does not feature a 3.5mm headphone jack. Meanwhile, the antenna lines from Mi 5X/Mi A1 have been retained in the new smartphone. Compared to the predecessor phone, the Mi 6X comes with some improvements like trendy full screen design and dual rear cameras. The device comes in three variants based on different RAM and storage combinations.

- The USP of the Mi 6X, according to Xiaomi is its "picture flawless dual camera" consisting of one 12-megapixel sensor and another 20-megapixel sensor. Mi 6X/ Mi A2 will reportedly have a 6-inch display with full-HD+ (1080×2160 pixel) resolution with 18:9 aspect ratio. Now, with today's unveiling of the Mi 6X, it is expected that the phone would launch in India, too, as a successor to the Mi A1 and be branded as Mi A2.

According to Xiaomi, the secondary camera does 4-to-1 pixel binning to provide better low light shots, similar to the Oppo R15 and OnePlus 5T. In front, you're getting an upgraded selfie camera, featuring a Sony IMX376 sensor, bumping megapixels to 20MP. The Mi 6X smartly uses the 12-megapixel camera as the main sensor during the day and it makes use of 20-megapixel camera as the primary sensor at night to shoot brighter images in dim light conditions. The camera app, like every other phone released as of late, can also detect various scenes like pets, people and adjust the settings automatically. There is also a fingerprint scanner at the back. During the keynote on Wednesday, the company confirmed that the Mi 6X comes with AI-based translation features which can help you convert text from any language to English.

The Mi 6X will likewise have a face recognition feature to open the mobile. With this, you can expect a 50% charge in 30 minutes. Connectivity options on the device include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 5, Global Positioning System and a USB Type-C port. Xiaomi has made a decision to remove the 3.5mm audio jack and comes with a USB Type-C port.
