NFL Draft 2018: How Avonte Maddox, Josh Sweat fit with Eagles' defense

The Browns addressed some major needs in the second round, most notably taking Nevada left tackle Austin Corbett with the No. 33 overall pick.

Goedert had 72 catches for 1,111 yards and seven touchdowns as a senior after posting 92-1,293-11 as a junior.

The former Philadelphia Eagles kicker stepped up to the podium during the second round of the draft to annouce the team's pick, but before he did, he trolled the absolute hell of Cowboys fans. "This was a guy we felt dominated at that level", said Joe Douglas, the executive vice president of player personnel.

"I think we can utilize him much the same way we did the past two years with Trey Burton having him on the field with Zach". Burton and Celek's contributions will need to get filled and Goedert has the versatility to fill both of their spots. Wentz and Goedert share an agent and when the latter was at the NovaCare Complex earlier this month for a pre-draft visit they met. He was unaware that Pete Retzlaff, the tight end whose No. 44 was retired by the Eagles, starred at South Dakota State. "We have to make sure not only do we have the right players in that room this year, which we do, we have a great group, but we also have the right players going forward".

Goedert stands 6-foot-5, 260 pounds. Schwartz likes to spread out players in his front four and turn them loose on quarterbacks. Goedert was McShay's top tight end prospect.

"The first thing [the Eagles said on the call] is". Immediately after the pick was in, Wentz shot off one text message after another to his newest weapon. "He's been around the building talking to us about him a little bit".

Goedert was the Eagles' only Day Two draft pick.

Goedert is confident he can develop into a top-flight tight end in the National Football League, using Wentz and former Northern Iowa running back David Johnson as examples of former Valley players who have thrived in the NFL.
