Bruins Expecting Strong Bounce Back From Lightning In Game 2 On Monday

He will be adding coverage here along with Hockeybuzz veteran writer Ty Anderson.

Hall and MacKinnon are also up for the Ted Lindsay Award, which is given to the "most outstanding player in the regular season" and voted on by members of the NHL Players' Association.

Patrice Bergeron, with a goal and two assists, David Pastrnak, Danton Heinen, Torey Krug and Brad Marchand also scored for the Bruins.

The Bruins looked a bit uncomfortable in their own end to start the first, but Rask stood tall making 11 saves in the frame.

Despite a pair of Lightning goals after Nash's tally, the final two periods were dominated by the Bruins. That's nice. It also might be the most National Hockey League thing ever. They came close in the first round in 2013, when they rallied from a three-games-to-one deficit against Boston and took a 4-1 lead in Game 7. On the power play, Rask's left skate blade popped off when it was hit by a shot.

Rask said he knew what he was doing with the blade toss. "The lone exception is when referees may stop play after a goaltender has lost his helmet (as outlined in Rule 9.6)". Later the rule states "No delay shall be permitted for the fix or adjustment of goalkeeper's equipment".

"I was yelling at the ref for like 10 seconds - he didn't hear me", Rask said. "He's really smart and has that great vision, so I'm not really surprised to see that". The puck was out on the perimeter and Rask repeatedly screamed to get the officials' attention while he frantically peg-legged his way around the crease. "I didn't think it would go in". How is it safe for a razor blade to be lying on the ice, especially in front of the net where physicality is often increased?

"In a flawless world, everyone would like as many goals as they can ... but I understand (how playoffs usually work)", he said. Does he lose big games? Yes. "It was only a one-goal game going into the third and we shut it down and scored some good goals". The former Rangers forward was decent in the first round, but couldn't capitalize on his chances, scoring just once against Toronto. The Bruins came out on top, with an impressive 6-2 win over the Bolts. David Krejci made a sweet drop pass to Nash at the top of the right circle.

But Rask was sharp in the first three regular-season meetings against Tampa Bay, allowing just four goals.

I got a message for all the Tuukka haters in Boston.

Rick Nash scored a power-play goal by tipping a shot from Pastrnak past Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy, giving the Bruins a 1-0 lead at 17:11 of the first period.

That team beat its first-round foe, the New York Islanders, in five games even though the Isles took three of four in the regular season.

The Bruins survived a scare in the third period as Jake DeBrusk hobbled off the ice and onto the Bruins bench after blocking a shot with his knee. The Bruins are indeed hoping that Nash lights the lamp a little more often in Round 2 as he faces some of his former Ranger teammates, including Bolts defenseman Ryan McDonagh.

"Yeah, that was an incredible shift by him", Bergeron said of DeBrusk's painful shift.

"We're through. We got through that round", Sweeney said at a press conference Thursday. He got rewarded with the empty netter. "Guys have been in this position before", center Tyler Johnson said. This series is about the goaltenders, and while San Jose has the better offense, I trust Fleury to steal more games. Nash came to Boston from NY, where he was pelted by similar unfounded criticism when things didn't go the Rangers' way. Against who you ask?
