Fedor's manager Jerry Millen confirmed to Washington Post that the 41-year-old Russian mixed martial arts fighter was questioned for "a few minutes".

The win saw Emelianenko go back to winning ways after falling short in his Bellator debut, where he lost to Matt Mitrione and has now won six of his past seven bouts.

Fedor Emelianenko, a Russian-born MMA fighter who dominated the UFC's heavyweight division in the first decade of this century, was tracked down at his hotel by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in IL as he prepared for a fight, his manager told the Associated Press. Mir, meanwhile, has been sidelined for over two years due to a performance-enhancing drug suspension. Mir has lost his last two bouts, losing to Andrei Arlovski at UFC 191 in September 2015 and losing to Mark Hunt at a UFC Fight Night in March 2016. Fedor signed with the fight league Affliction Entertainment, an organization that was partially owned by Trump, in 2008. "To tell you the truth, I believe that Chael is a good person, because when we meet each other in some place or in the hotel, we actually communicate in a very good and friendly manner", Emelianenko said. Affliction was first announced at a press conference in June 2008 along with plans to premiere a 15-episode reality TV show following Emelianenko to be filmed in Russian Federation.

As a Russian celebrity, Emelianenko has been photographed with Putin on several occasions.

The card also featured the MMA debut of Dillon Danis, as Conor McGregor's training partner and friend earned himself a quick submission. Danis took a couple of shots in the opening seconds before he brought Walker to the ground.
