The announcement sent the stock of Match Group, which owns properties such as Tinder, OkCupid, and, down 18 percent. IAC/InterActiveCorp (IAC), which is the majority owner of Match, was down 12%. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg isn't going to let Facebook-related controversies like its repeated data privacy problems and Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential elections ruin his hopefulness. Last year, Zuckerberg described his strategy for using VR to reshape the way people interact and experience life, much as the company's social network already has.

In a letter [PDF] sent on Tuesday to the head of public policy for Facebook's United Kingdom office, Rebecca Stimson, the head of a key Parliamentary committee, Damian Collins, threatened to issue a formal summons against Zuckerberg if he doesn't agree to attend one of its sessions digging into fake news and privacy.

Facebook maintains over 40 million users in the U.K., Mr. Collins wrote, "and they deserve to hear accurate answers from the company he created and whether it is able to keep their users' data safe".

Zuckerberg also announced that Facebook will soon re-open its app review process for third-party developers after it was paused in April following the Cambridge Analytica revelations.

Still in damage-control mode, Zuckerberg announced before Tuesday's keynote that Facebook would make it possible for you to delete information the social network gathers from your activity on other websites and apps.

Oculus Go is different from other virtual reality devices that require smartphones or a cord tethered to a personal computer to cast people into artificial worlds or show three-dimensional videos.
