Ben Simmons says 1-point performance was result of 'overthinking'

Ben Simmons says 1-point performance was result of 'overthinking'

Game 3 will take place in Philadelphia on Saturday at 5 p.m.

They were up to their comeback tricks again during Thursday night's 108-103 Game 2 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers, erasing a 22-point deficit with a furious run in the second quarter.

The Sixers clearly hadn't learnt from their previous mistakes as they'd given up big leads to the Celtics on more than one occasion during the regular season. The Celtics still have the best coach in this series, and defense always travels.

The Celtics continued to ride the momentum of Rozier's three and two more makes from beyond - one from Rozier and one from Morris - gave Boston a 99-95 lead late in the fourth.

Part of the Sixers' struggles were directly tied to Ben Simmons and his stark lack of productivity. It was good to get a game in, so we can see where we are at.

Philly held a lead of 22 points in the 2nd quarter but a 20-5 run by Boston to close the 1st half made it a 56-51 game at the half.

Six Celtics score more than 13 points, with Tatum leading the way with 21 points on 50 percent shooting from the field and from three, to go along with a pair of rebounds and a pair of assists. In 25 minutes of action in Game 2, he would post 13 points on 5-of-13 shooting with four rebounds.

Celtics coach Brad Stevens has done a masterful job of creating mismatches to take advantage of the Sixers' defensive weaknesses, and the Sixers haven't made the necessary adjustments so far. He had 18 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists in the Sixers' Game 1 loss to Boston but was shut down Thursday.

"Adrenaline, when adrenaline takes over you don't really feel anything".

After playing 24 minutes over the first three games of the first round, Fultz was inactive in the final two games of the Miami series and didn't play in the opener against the Celtics.

J.J. Redick had 23 points for the 76ers, making five 3-pointers.

James was phenomenal with 43 points and 14 assists and was backed up Kevin Love's 31 points and 11 rebounds, JR Smith's 15 points and Jeff Green's 14 points.

Ben Simmons blamed himself, rather than the harassing Boston Celtics defence, for his horror game for Philadelphia on Friday that saw him end up with a personal tally of just one point and five turnovers. He's going to have to step up for the 76ers to get back in the series.

Philadelphia has to regroup in a hurry and Brett Brown has to get his team to put their Game 2 meltdown in the rear view mirror. Philadelphia came out hot for much of the first half with J.J. Redick and Robert Covington carrying much of the scoring load. In this one, it's going to be tough: I expect the 76ers to win the game to make it a 2-1 series but the Celtics hang tough enough to cover the line.

Game 2 brought up some serious questions, some we weren't contemplating earlier and some that we still don't have the answers too.

"I'm going to have bad games; it happens", Simmons said. Brown came off the bench as he returned from a hamstring injury that sidelined him in Game 1, and Monroe was playing for the first time in a week. Boston lost star forward Gordon Hayward to a season-ending injury on opening night.
