Vodafone's new 3GB data plan compared with Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel equivalents

A telecom tariff war seems to have started afresh with state-owned telecom operator BSNL trying to match Reliance Jio's tariffs with a Rs349 pre-paid plan that comes with a validity of 54 days and offers unlimited voice calls. The revised Rs. 349 plan from Vodafone also includes unlimited local, STD and roaming calls. This Rs. 349 plan has been upgraded from today and the customers will get 3GB of data per day instead of 2.5GB data for 28 days.

The plan is introduced to counter its rivals Reliance Jio and Airtel, which offers Rs 299 and Rs 349 plan with 3GB daily data limit. Jio has been offering 3GB data per day on one of its plans for subscribers. Local, STD, and roaming calls were also unlimited in this prepaid recharge plan and it came with a validity of 28 days. BSNL, which is still stuck on 3G network, is soon expected to roll-out 4G services. Under the plan, BSNL is offering unlimited voice calls and data to its customers. That said, customers in circles of Chennai and Kolkata are offered the benefits of ₹348 plan for ₹347, with customers in Haryana getting it at ₹344. This plan also comes with a validity of 28 days. The plan also comes with access to Jio's suite of apps, though users have to pay an extra Rs 99 for access to the Jio Prime service. It is now available in Assam, Mumbai, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh West/East circles. You also get the option of setting any caller tune of your choice with this pack, which will be valid for 28 days. The Rs 349 plan with 3GB data does not show for Delhi NCR circle on Vodafone's website.

However, post revision, Vodafone prepaid customers doing a recharge of ₹349 are now offered 3 GB of 3G/4G data per day for 28 days which translates to a total of 84 GB of data for the validity period - a total increase of 14 GB of data. The new plan is essentially a revamped version of the Rs. 348 plan with 500MB more data per day. Vodafone also has a prepaid plan of Rs 511 that offers 2GB of data per day with a validity of 84 days.
