Cavs won't ban Rodney Hood over refusal to enter game

Cleveland Cavaliers guard Rodney Hood will not be suspended for refusing to enter Game 4 in the fourth quarter.

"An opposing executive texted Lloyd: "(Hood) is not built for this", and now we're seeing why.

Per Jason Lloyd of The Athletic, Hood caused a fuss on the Cavs' bench when Lue attempted to insert him for LeBron James with 7:38 to play.

Lue had good reason to sit Hood, who entered the game averaging 4.6 points on 40 percent shooting.

Hood, who was the only member of the Cavs not to log any minutes last night, only played in 39 minutes through the first three games, scoring just two points on 1-of-9 shooting.

The Cleveland Cavaliers enjoyed a rout of the Toronto Raptors on Monday night to close out their Eastern Conference semifinals series with a sweep, but not everybody was happy about it.

In the long-term, Hood will become a restricted free agent this summer.

The 25-year-old Hood is averaging 4.6 points in 17 minutes in the post-season.

Rodney Hood refused to enter the game when summoned in the fourth quarter Monday, angering a number of teammates, according to multiple sources.

A native of Meridian, MS, Hood is in his fourth National Basketball Association campaign and his first season with Cleveland.

In the short-term, Hood faces a fine or suspension for conduct detrimental to the team, Lloyd posited, but at the very least you would expect him to remain out of the rotation for the foreseeable future.

The Cavaliers acquired Hood from the Utah Jazz at the trade deadline as part of their midseason roster makeover. It's not a stretch to think that Hood didn't want to be seen as an end-of-game minutes-eater when he's hoping to grow his value to potential suitors.

The Cavs advanced to the Eastern Conference finals by sweeping the Raptors. However, ESPN reports that he has already apologized to Cleveland general manager Koby Altman and plans to say sorry to his teammates as well.
