Rooney eyes move to MLS with DC United

DC United are understood to be keen to bring in a status signing with global pull when the MLS transfer window opens on July 10.

The Toffees striker has been linked with a move away from Goodison Park just 12 months on from re-joining his boyhood club.

It says United have "turned their attention" to American playmaker Pulisic and are interested in a player-plus-cash deal that would see Martial move to the Bundesliga.

The ground will only have a 20,000 capacity but it is state-of-the-art and cost almost £300million to build, including land acquisition.

David Beckham looks on while taking on the Houston Dynamo in the 2012 MLS Cup at The Home Depot Center on December 1, 2012 in Carson, California.

"There are rumours about Wayne going elsewhere overseas - in China and America - but at the moment he is an Everton player and an Everton fan", the Toffees boss told talkSPORT.

According to reports in America, they have also targeted Javier Hernandez, Carlos Tevez and Mario Balotelli, but Rooney would be the greatest coup and the name with the biggest global pull.

"We all have to deal with that in our own way and I think Wayne deals with it very well indeed".

However, it appears as if his days in England are numbered, with the report stating that Allardyce - who is increasingly likely to get the job permanently - recently informed him that he will struggle for games if he stays.

As reported by The Birmingham Mail, Wolverhampton Wanderers, who have sealed their promotion to the Premier League for next season, are "amongst the favourites" to sign Rooney.

His haul of 208 Premier League goals rank second only to Alan Shearer.

Everton fans largely seem to be behind the idea of selling Wayne Rooney this summer.
