President Buhari returns to Nigeria

Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari returned home on Friday after travelling to Britain this week to see his doctor, his spokesman said. His media aide Garba Shehu said the latest visit was at the behest of his doctors whom he saw during a "technical stopover" on his way from Washington.

"He can't travel for an official meeting to the United States and sneak into London to see his doctor, then tell Nigerians it was a technical stopover due to flight issues".

Mr Shehu said the doctor requested "the president to return for a meeting which he agreed to do".

He said the reports had clearly shown that the president promised not to embark on foreign medical trips and to sell jets in the presidential fleet.

The Muhammadu Buhari Legacy Foundation, a political organisation, says it has begun an online television station to showcase the achievements of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration so far.

"He's not the only one", he said.

President Buhari made a similar trip on January 19 past year but his return from that trip was greeted with much anxiety after he over stayed.

Buhari's health has come under public scrutiny in the past two years after he spent months in London for undisclosed medical reasons in 2016 and 2017. I am telling you that the son was treated in Nigeria.
