Arteta to meet with Arsenal over manager's job

Mikel Arteta has emerged as Arsenal's primary target to become the club's new manager.

Since then, Arteta has been working as an assistant coach at Manchester City, but Pep Guardiola has already said that he will not prevent Arteta from leaving if he is offered another job.

"Julian Nagelsmann will be our coach next season".

Last month, Arsene Wenger revealed that he was to step down as manager at the end of the season and with the Frenchman having officially left his role on Sunday, more changes are being made at the North London outfit.

It is now seen as highly unlikely that Arsenal would be able to come to an agreement with Juventus' Max Allegri and in the meantime talks with Arteta and his representatives have reached the point where he has named potential staff and the financial package required.

Carzorla, who has is out of contract in the summer, hasn't kicked a ball in anger since a 3-2 win over Swansea City in October 2016 due to injury but it appears Arteta is keen on keeping his former teammate at Arsenal. He was a player who could see passes others couldn't and was respected wherever he went as he played in a more advanced role at Everton but returned to a more defensive role in central midfield at Arsenal.

According to Sportsmail, it is believed the Gunners are 90% certain that their former midfielder Mikel Arteta will replace Wenger as manager.

Barcelona was also negotiating with Barcelona ex-coach Luis Enrique.

Former Gunners captain Patrick Vieira has also been linked with the Arsenal vacancy, while outgoing Paris Saint-Germain coach Unai Emery has not been contacted about the position.
