Kevin Love Ruled Out Of Game 7 In Concussion Protocol

CLEVELAND - Cleveland Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue on Saturday said in a conference call that forward Kevin Love is still under concussion protocol, but would travel with the team for Game 7 on Sunday night, and is not ruled out to play.

Delivering another performance for the ages, James scored 46 points and preserved his reign atop the Eastern Conference for at least one more game as the Cleveland Cavaliers shook off losing All-Star Kevin Love with a head injury and beat the Celtics 109-99 on Friday night to force a decisive climax to this back-and-forth series.

Love's had two concussions since 2016, and if he's been diagnosed with one now, it's hard to imagine he'd be able to pass the tests necessary to be allowed to play by Sunday night. Cleveland alters its entire defensive strategy when Love is out of the game.

The toll 82 regular season games and 16 playoff games has taken on James was evident on May 23 when the Cavs were beaten by the Celtics, 96-83, in Game 5 in Boston.

"He did look a little exhausted to me", Lue said.

"We'll have to prepare our team to play well, regardless of who plays for them", Stevens said.

The Celtics know how much more comfortable they would be closing out at home, but James in a game seven is a different monster. Where will LeBron James sign this summer? But the Cavs' chances of winning decrease when their best player averages six turnovers a game and teammates don't pitch in. LeBron hit several clutch shots in the final moments of the game to help his team peel away.

At home in the playoffs, James is averaging 38 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists while shooting 59 percent from the field, 41 percent from 3-point range. The Celtics kept in competitive but this was one of those nights where LeBron was not going to be denied, chasing down blocks, knocking down contested 3s from a half-dozen steps behind the 3-point line. Tatum had 13 points, and Horford had 10 points and seven boards at the break.

Guard Terry Rozier led Boston with 28 points and Jaylen Brown scored 27.

"After the game, I didn't know who got me", LeBron said. Like Friday night's loss, they won't be thinking about them when Game 7 tips off. "You got to be able to get down and get dirty", said Smart.

On a night Tatum slipped past Magic Johnson and Wilt Chamberlain to become only the sixth rookie in National Basketball Association history to score 300 postseason points, he put his team in position to end James' reign of East supremacy. This young bunch is eager to come out and throw another punch of their own on their home floor, where they are 10-0 this postseason.

"We can't just rely on being at home as an excuse that it's going to be easy, because it's not", he said, flatly.
