Weinstein arrives to surrender in assault probe

Ben Brafman, Weinstein´s powerful defense attorney, has declined to comment on his client´s planned surrender.

He has denied having non-consensual sex with anyone.

Weinstein's alleged history of sexually harassing and/or assaulting women got finally put on blast back in October thanks to a New York Times story documenting the stories of numerous women.

Actress Rose McGowan, among the first to accuse Weinstein of sexual assault, said seeing images of him in handcuffs was surreal.

Goldberg told The Associated Press that "we are relieved and grateful that justice is coming, but we also mourn the cases where it didn't".

Once inside, Weinstein was charged with one count each of first- and third-degree rape, as well as first-degree criminal sex act.

Disgraces Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein has been charged in NY with rape and several other counts of sexual abuse involving two separate women.

Clad in a blue sweater and black suit jacket, Weinstein was shuffled past the hordes of paparazzi-a memorable scene in its parallels to the all too familiar scrutiny women have faced while walking past men on sidewalks around the world.

Not too hard, though, because Mr. Weinstein is reportedly planning on pleading not guilty to the charges.

Disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein's appearance in a NY court is among the top stories in Saturday's papers.

Two law enforcement officials told The Associated Press the case includes a woman who has said Weinstein forced her to perform oral sex during a meeting at his office in 2004.

Evans tells The New Yorker that she's pressing charges.

The criminal sex act charge stems from an allegation brought by Lucia Evans, who has said Weinstein forced her to perform oral sex during what she thought would be a casting call. "I didn't want to kick him or fight him". She is not one of the victims in the case on Friday; hers was still pending, officials said. The Times' Mueller noted a 2015 undercover sting operation launched by New York District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. and New York police, in which the producer was recorded admitting to groping an Italian actress. On Thursday, Weinstein, 66, was expected to surrender today after a long line of investigations supported by allegations.

The statute of limitations for rape and certain other sex crimes in NY was eliminated in 2006, but not for attacks that happened prior to 2001.

Last year, investigative reporters detailed various sexual harassment claims against Harvey Weinstein, co-founder of The Weinstein Company.

They continued to work for the firm until 2005 when they quit to set up the Weinstein Company, which spawned hits including The King's Speech, Django Unchained and Silver Linings Playbook. Al Franken, chef Mario Batali, casino magnate Steve Wynn and, most recently, Democratic New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.

The public allegations against Weinstein helped prompt a broad public reckoning about sexual misconduct.
