Coutinho back at Anfield as Real Madrid stars mock Reds

Coutinho back at Anfield as Real Madrid stars mock Reds

Neymar had been sidelined for over three months after fracturing his foot while playing for Paris Saint-Germain against Marseille in Ligue 1 on Feb 25.

Those fears largely disappeared Sunday when Neymar returned to action with smart dribbling, fluent passing and an impressive individual goal, which he celebrated with his surgeon.

Liverpool icon Kenny Dalglish has urged fans not to boo Philippe Coutinho when he returns to Anfield on Sunday.

Croatia can take solace from having the best of a combative first half that earned them bookings for Kramaric, shown yellow for a knee-high studs-up foul on Thiago Silva, and Ivan Perisic for hauling down Manchester City's Gabriel Jesus.

Brazil head to Russian Federation as one of the favourites but this was a largely flat display, despite Tite choosing to start Gabriel Jesus, Willian and Philippe Coutinho, making his first appearance at the stadium since leaving Liverpool for Barcelona in January.

"With Coutinho, his ability was a good start and the goals he scored from outside the box were tremendously exciting".

And much to the delight of the sizeable home support, Liverpool playmaker Roberto Firmino added the second in added time to wrap up a comfortable win for the Brazilians.

"Neymar is going to have ups and downs like he had in training until the third, fourth game (on his return)".

Neymar became the world's most expensive footballer when he signed from Barcelona for €222 million ($264 million) last August and he is expected to start in the opening Group E game against Switzerland on June 17 even if he is short of full match fitness.

Brazil won the game 2-0.

Brazil "improved in the second half after Neymar made the difference".
