Curry, LeBron say neither Warriors nor Cavs want White House invite

Lue said the Cavaliers were made aware that there was a timeout left and they specifically didn't use it before the final possession because they didn't want to allow the Warriors to sub Stephen Curry out the of the game so they could take advantage of the matchup. But that's certainly changed in recent years, and it's interesting to see the degree to which James acknowledges that here.

Curry said he was not shocked to see how the White House appearance issue has escalated since last September.

"It's typical of him", James said of Trump.

"I know no matter who wins this series, no-one wants the invite anyway".

The lineup with Shaun Livingston and the Warriors' four All-Stars didn't play at all in regulation of Game 1, but was on the floor for all but the last three seconds of overtime, scoring 15 points on Golden State's first six possessions of the extra period to make Cleveland pay for its late-fourth-quarter mistakes.

LeBron James #23 of the Cleveland Cavaliers reacts against the Golden State Warriors in Game 2 of the 2018 NBA Finals at ORACLE Arena on June 3, 2018 in Oakland, California.

"I'm pretty sure the way we handled things past year, (we will) kinda stay consistent with that", Curry said Tuesday when asked whether the Warriors would skip the visit should they win this time.

Curry said Tuesday that he spoke with a current Eagles player about the team's decision-making process and how it went deeper than disagreeing with Trump policies and the ongoing issue of some National Football League players choosing not to stand for the pregame playing of "The Star-Spangled Banner". "So there were a lot of things playing through my head".

There has been clear tension between many star athletes and the current administration throughout the Trump presidency. He brought his foundation's work to Philly when the Eagles signed him before the 2017 season.

Perkins gave Curry a warning via the media Tuesday. "But I think more importantly we shouldn't, as Americans and especially the people in Philadelphia shouldn't let that news take away from what that unbelievable team did and accomplished". Villanova, the reigning NCAA men's champion, has not revealed if an invitation was sent.

Earlier this offseason, Long was named the 2018 NFLPA Byron "Whizzer" White Community MVP for his philanthropic efforts, which were extensive this past year. When the New England Patriots went a year ago, half the team chose not to attend. "If you focus on who is saying the right things, you shouldn't get lost in the noise that's going on right now". After years of battling with the San Antonio Spurs dynasty, led by Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich and five-time National Basketball Association champion Tim Duncan, James now is facing arguably the best team in league history in the Golden State Warriors. "So it's just the way it is".

"That would have helped but more than that, LeBron showed poor leadership there and I'm sure he knows that by now".

Kerr also lauded the Eagles for being what he called "fantastic citizens in their own community". "I don't know if I had enough time because I was kind of a little bit still in shock of what was going on at that point in time", James said. That invitation - not unlike the Eagles' - was pulled after a number of players vacillated on attending.
