EPA staffers say Pruitt sent them on errands to get snack food

"If Ms. Hupp's statements to the Committee are accurate, Administrator Pruitt crossed a very clear line and must be held accountable", he said in a letter.

A former EPA official told the outlet that Pruitt prefers food from the high-end grocery store Dean & Deluca and that his favorite snacks include Greek yogurt as well as cookies and other candies.

According to two officials who spoke anonymously with the Washington Post, Pruitt had his 24/7 security detail carry out several tasks beyond the scope of their jobs, including picking up his dry cleaning (without him) and facilitating a wild goose chase to Ritz-Carlton Hotels in search of his favorite lotion (with him). Meanwhile, Trump praised Pruitt on Wednesday during a briefing on hurricane preparedness at the Federal Emergency Management Agency's headquarters. "Somebody has to say that about you a little bit, you know that, Scott".

We already knew that EPA administrator Scott Pruitt doesn't like paying full price for apartments and mattresses. Hupp's departure came after lawmakers released her testimony to the congressional panel.

Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), a member of GOP Senate leadership, didn't explicitly say Pruitt should be fired, but called Pruitt's behavior a "distraction".

"According to one top EPA official", The Atlantic adds, Hupp, "was 'tired of being thrown under the bus by Pruitt, ' and weary of seeing her name constantly appear in headlines about the agency".

"EPA is doing really, really well", Trump told Pruitt.

As EPA chief, Pruitt has received round-the-clock protection since he took office in February 2017.

Chick-fil-A representative Carrie Kurlander told The Washington Post, which first reported the story, that Pruitt had been interested in his wife becoming a franchise owner.

Pruitt is the subject of about a dozen inquiries to his role as administrator and this week has seen a steady stream of Republicans criticizing him.

Two top Environmental Protection Agency aides resigned this week as a fresh round of controversies stretches the scandals surrounding Scott Pruitt into a third consecutive month.

"I don't think it looks good but I like what the administrator has been doing from a policy perspective", he said.
