Liverpool agree deal to sign Lyon's Nabil Fekir

According to BBC Sport, the Merseyside club are close to agreeing on a deal for Lyon striker Nabil Fekir, who was also being closely watched by the likes of Chelsea and FC Barcelona. The French newspaper are reporting that both sides are now eager for a deal to be done before France fly out to Russian Federation this weekend with a fee of 65 millions Euros the reported price tag.

Fekir is expected to leave his boyhood club this summer has reportedly told Lyon that he would prefer a move to Liverpool.

Talks have been ongoing, but a power play emerged from Lyon's side, with president Jean-Michel Aulas hoping to lure other bidders into the reckoning.

Having already signed Fabinho from Monaco, Jurgen Klopp is clearly looking to bolster his midfield options. "The deal will certainly not be closed during the World Cup and I don't think there will be any change before the World Cup".

And the Mirror now say the Reds are confident the 24-year-old will be confirmed as a Liverpool player before the weekend.

"He added: "[We] have not set a base price because we have not discussed this yet".

Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid are also reportedly interested in the French worldwide - but Liverpool are now in the driving seat.

Reports on Wednesday also suggested that Liverpool were giving serious thought to activating the relegation release clause in Xherdan Shaqiri's contract at Stoke City.
