Trump Claims ICE Is Only Reason People Feel Safe

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., joins activists at the Supreme Court in Washington, June 28, 2018.

Among the people campaigning to end ICE are New York Sen.

She added: "And that's why I believe you should get rid of it, start over, reimagine it and build something that actually works".

"Between Maxine Waters and Nancy Pelosi and getting rid of ICE and having open borders and the biggest thing - you have open borders".

The agents work in ICE's Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) unit, which focuses on crimes including drug trafficking, human smuggling, and child pornography. "You are doing a fantastic job of keeping us safe by eradicating the worst criminal elements".

"The whole idea with ICE was to find people that are causing a problem in the United States ... and be able to deport them", Pocan said.

The investigators asked for ICE to be dissolved in a letter to letter to Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, the Texas Observer reported.

"Right before ICE was established - which is a new agency, It's only been established in the last many years - there was enforcement of immigration laws. They are great!" Trump tweeted.

Democrats and immigrants have ramped up their protests of late - as the midterm elections approach - to push their immigration reform agenda. Two weeks ago, he signed an executive order ending most family separations.

But the truth is that abolishing ICE isn't that radical.

"I hope they keep thinking of that", he said in an interview aired a day after massive immigration policy demonstrations around the country. ICE is under scrutiny as President Trump's "zero-tolerance" policies at the southern border have led to family separations, ultimately sparking nationwide protests Saturday. "We got to change the policy of this administration". "There's so much fake information out there".

The departing director expressed some reservations about his retirement. "Whatever you replace it with is just going to still reflect what this president wants to do", Duckworth explained.

Several potential 2020 presidential hopefuls are signaling a shift to the progressive left by calling for the end of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and now President Donald Trump is using that rhetoric as a rallying cry. That falls to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. "It's not clear if Vitiello will be nominated for the position".

Trump said he knew the bill, even if it passed the House of Representatives, would not clear the Senate in the face of Democratic opposition.
