LG's new patent suggests a foldable smartphone with extendable hinge

If we are to believe the latest Korean rumors, the foldable panels for the Galaxy X smartphones are supposedly scheduled to enter production this summer so that they could be ready for the early 2019 release. Today we have gotten what could possibly be a small glimpse into the foldable Galaxy X.

Analysts disclosed to Nikkei Friday that Samsung is now counting on its Galaxy X foldable phone to recharge its profit after the device's launch early next year. We've been seeing rumours on the folding Samsung Galaxy X trickle out for a few months, and more recently some bits and pieces about the Galaxy S10. This likely means that the foldable smartphone's unveiling, which has been delayed for a few years, will finally happen soon. This watch will be powered by Wear OS, (Google's new name for Android Wear) instead of Tizen which Samsung had been using to power its Galaxy Gear smartwatches. According to the leaker, Samsung will be unveiling the Galaxy X at CES 2019, then the Galaxy S10 at the 2019 Mobile World Congress.

Recent reports have said the Galaxy S10 might come in three different sizes, with the largest one possibly sporting a triple camera setup at the back. It is not hard to imagine the reasons why Samsung is expected to experience a awful quarter, because according to analysts, the reason for the drop in profit is lackluster Galaxy S9 sales.

Information obtained by AllAboutSamsung indicates that the cheaper Galaxy S10 models will feature dual camera setups similar to the Galaxy S9+.

Another company we expect to see make smartphone announcements in September is Sony, though we've long since given up trying to second-guess its naming conventions for upcoming phones.
