"I'll show him!" - France's Giroud aims to prove Thierry Henry wrong

France and Belgium went into halftime drawing 0-0 in an entertaining first World Cup semi-final on Tuesday, with both teams creating half chances but neither able to break the deadlock.

Belgium's Thomas Vermaelen speaks during a press conference in Dedovsk, Russia July 9, 2018. However, when they turn into symbols of competing nationalisms, as it will be seen in St Petersburg where Belgium and France will vie for a place in the World Cup final (the French have a 2-1 lead in the mega tournament), then the task to find a difference between them will be too hard.

Chelsea and Les Blues striker Giroud has admitted that while he has massive respect for France legend Henry, but he also revealed that he will be eager to get one over on Henry when the two continental neighbours face off in the Saint Petersburg Stadium.

Olivier Giroud joked he would be "proud" to show Thierry Henry he was wrong to choose Belgium over France. "As long as we win, that's fine with me". It means, if I'm on the field, the boss thinks I can help the team.

Talking about Croatia and England, they have played each other 7 times previously, 4 are won by the latter.

A living legend of French football, Henry was one of the stars during their 1998 World Cup win. "Maybe it will be a more hard match than against Brazil".

While Asterix is a Frenchman, Tintin - the daring journalist - has Belgium as his home.

He does many things, it is the players around him that benefit.

Olivier Giroud put country before club by describing France captain Hugo Lloris as a better goalkeeper than Belgium's Thibaut Courtois.

Deschamps has confirmed he values the contribution Giroud has provided and insists that despite the fact he is yet to score in Russian Federation, he has done everything else perfectly as France attempt to win their first World Cup since 1998. "There will be gaps that will have to be used", the forward added.
