Fortnite Season 5 Adds a New Squad Vehicle, Desert Biome & More

Season 5 also adds a new vehicle, the All Terrain Kart (ATK).

The battle royale, last-man-standing-style game starts with 100 players parachuting on to an island. This tricked out golf cart has room for your entire squad and offers a speed boost after drifting.

Toys include the basketball, golf ball and beach ball but you can only get access to them if you own the Season 5 Battle Pass.

Other new features are Rifts, which pop up throughout the map.

What has changed in the season 5 map? There's more to today's patch than just what's listed here, so be sure to head over to the official Fortnite site to check out today's patch notes in full. What's more, the roof acts as a bounce pad although you'll probably have more fun driving them through rifts. Where storm circles would normally just shrink, Epic has decided that the seventh, eighth and ninth circles should move in random directions, giving campers a whole new headache to deal with. The Battle Pass also allows players to compete in weekly challenges that can unlock more rewards.

The hunting rifle's aim assist has been lowered to match that of other sniper rifles, and the suppressed SMG now features the same damage drop off profile as other SMGs.

Though the Fortnite floating lightning bolt mission only tasks players with finding seven of them, there are significantly more available around the map. Heavy shotguns have been given a 10 pellet magazine, instead of 5, and the ability to double pump has been reduced with the introduction of a shot delay. There will now be a delay when players switch from firing one shotgun to another.

Perhaps one of the biggest changes occurred in the Moisty Mire part of the map, which doesn't look so moist anymore. You can toggle the mode in the settings menu at anytime. In a word, Fortnite season 5 appears to be massive.
