A Pakistani police officer stands guard while people offer funeral prayers in Lahore for the victims of a Friday suicide bombing in Mastung district of Baluchistan province, Pakistan that killed 128 people, Sunday, July 15, 2018.

Nawabzada Siraj Raisani, a candidate running for the provincial assembly, was among the dead in the Baluchistan attack.

Earlier in the week, ANP leader Haroon Bilour had been killed along with 21 others, followed by the killings of five others in Bannu in a bomb blast.

Mushahidullah Khan, a spokesman for Sharif's Pakistan Muslim League party, said Saturday that the ex-prime minister and his daughter were being held in Adiala Jail, located outside the capital of Islamabad. The National Accountability Bureau officials took Sharif, 68, and Maryam, 44, into custody in the Avenfield case, shortly after their arrival at Lahore airport from London via Abu Dhabi.

The attacks came hours before Sharif returned with his daughter Maryam, to face 10 years in prison on corruption charges.

More than 150 people were injured in Mastung, officials say.

"It has never been more true that Pakistan's security establishment needs to focus on security, not politics", tweeted analyst Mosharraf Zaidi as mourners gathered to bury their dead in Mastung Saturday.

"Every effort must be made to ensure that the election is not derailed by elements hostile to the democratic process, for that is what the perpetrators of these attacks are", it said.

Meanwhile, there was a growing demand to improve security situation across Pakistan as the people of country are due to exercise their franchise on July 25. "Some people are calling Congress 'bail gaadi, ' not bullock cart, because some of its top leaders and former ministers are out on bail", Modi said at an election rally in Rajasthan.

The politician - Akram Khan Durrani, a candidate of the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) party - survived. On Saturday, as Pakistan reeled from a blast in Balochistan that took 130 odd lives, Pak Army's spokesperson DG Major General Asif Ghafoor instead of wondering why Pakistan had become a terrorists' haven was happy to indulge in some good-old India bashing.

Pakistan's campaign until this week had been relatively peaceful, compared with frequent attacks by the Pakistani Taleban during the 2013 election, which saw 170 people killed, according to statistics from the Pakistan Institute for Peace Studies.

IS has carried out a number of attacks in the region bordering Afghanistan in recent years. He said security was cited as the reason for the designated location.

Friday's bombings underscored the security threat.
