Ukraine FA offers job to Croatian coach sacked after win over Russian Federation

Croatia have sacked one of their coaching staff, Ognjen Vukojevic after he posted a pro-Ukraine video following the penalty shootout win over Russian Federation in the World Cup quarter-finals.

Only the Manchester clubs have conceded less Premier League goals than Liverpool since the Lovren-Van Dijk partnership was reunited, and it very almost culminated in the ultimate success, as Liverpool lost 3-1 to Real Madrid in the Champions League final.

Jurgen Klopp believes Dejan Lovren was written off too quickly following some hard spells last season.

"I said after the Argentina group game [Croatia won 3-0] that I had a good feeling". "We went through a lot of s**t", he said. This is why I am proud.

Lovren and his Croatia team-mate held off England in Moscow on Wednesday, winning 2-1 in extra-time to book a date with France on Sunday for the grand finale. "Croatia, forward!" they said in his video.

He also received negative press from Croatian outlets during the global showpiece in Russian Federation.

Those episodes have led to sanctions from soccer's worldwide governing body, but Lovren is hoping the squad's success at this World Cup will mark a turning point for the country.

"He was for us in the Champions League final, three years ago he was in the Europa League final". In 20 years' time, people will remember us, and not just the team from 1998.

Of course, we have yet to see him take on the pink hair-rollers of his adopted home town, but there's time yet.

'I think people should respect me also, ' he added.

On Sunday, Lovren will contest a World Cup final against France less than two months after participating in the Uefa Champions League showpiece with Liverpool.

Croatia fans celebrate their team victory after the semifinal soccer match between Croatia and England during the 2018 soccer World Cup in Nikolskaya street near the Kremlin in Moscow, Russia, Thursday, July 12, 2018.

"Now we have the chance to do something even better and hopefully we can do it".
