Osinbajo Fires DSS DG Lawal Daura

The attention of former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has been drawn to an illegal and undemocratic attempt by fascist forces to break into the National Assembly for the objective of furthering the agenda to force a change in the Nigerian Senate's leadership.

Images of the blockade were shared widely on social media.

A combined team of the Police and the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) have arrested and detained the sacked Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Lawal Daura.

He said: "I can authoritatively tell you that those senators behind the desecration of the National Assembly collected $1m each to impeach the Senate President and his Deputy".

"The unlawful act, which was done without the knowledge of the presidency, is condemnable and completely unacceptable", said a statement issued later by Osinbajo's office.

The Acting President, in the statement, condemned the action of the DSS as "a gross violation of the constitutional order, rule of law and all accepted notions of law and order".

Seiyefa, who hails from Bayelsa State, was before his new appointment the most senior director in the DSS.

Saraki, the country's third-highest ranking politician, last week left the APC for the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Parliament went on recess last week until September 25 but meetings were to be held on Tuesday.

He said the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria assures the independence of the legislature.

The sack is believed to be related to Mr Daura's role in the siege on the National Assembly on Tuesday.

A Reuters witness said security agents, some of whom were masked, then allowed lawmakers to enter but continued to bar government agents and journalists.
