Danny Ings completes £20m Southampton move

Although he was reportedly left disappointed by Jurgen Klopp's decision to move for Alisson, he's still expected to remain as part of the first team picture with the Reds for the season ahead where he's expected to be their second choice stopper.

The Saints have committed to buy the striker on July 1, 2019. He has signed a four-year contract and could make his debut for his new club against former side Burnley on Saturday.

Liverpool are guaranteed £18 million, with a further £2 million based on appearances. It should also be remembered that Liverpool defeated Manchester City three times last season, as well as recently beating the sky blues in pre-season.

Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has paid tribute to Danny Ings, after the striker left the club on Thursday evening. Capped once by England, he was keen to move on this summer in a bid to play regular football.

Several Premier League clubs were reported to be interested with Crystal Palace and Southampton believed to be the leading the chase. Born in nearby Winchester, Ings was a boyhood Saints fan and still has family on the South Coast.

Southampton are reportedly burning the midnight oil as they attempt to sign Danny Ings. Southampton submitted a deal sheet to the Premier League shortly before the 5pm deadline, and the deal was completed shortly after.

Italy global Andrea Belotti pulled one back for the visitors with a powerful header, but after Klopp made a raft of substitutions, Daniel Sturridge nodded in a Xherdan Shaqiri cross to score for the third friendly in a row.
