Kovacic joins Chelsea on loan, struggling Bakayoko sent on loan

With so many incomings, Chelsea will need to trim the squad and the prominent candidate for a move away seems to be French midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko.

Although Maurizio Sarri's new Chelsea isn't expected to move for another transfer, a potential Thibaut Courtois move to Real Madrid would see the Blues moving for his replacement, now thought to be Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Liverpool have been the biggest spenders, Arsenal did their business early, Chelsea came up on the rails late while Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have endured frustrating summers.

Tiemoue Bakayoko has reportedly agreed personal terms over a loan move to AC Milan.

Any loan deal for Bakayoko is likely to include an option to buy, according to Sky in Italy.

England global Drinkwater is also facing added competition for places 12 months after a big-money transfer, with it possible that he could be offloaded before the latest deadline passes.

Bakayoko, 23, joined Chelsea from Monaco last summer, with BBC Sport reporting that the fee was a huge £40million after the Frenchman starred in three seasons with Monaco.

New Chelsea manager, Maurizio Sarri, has only signed two players this summer - Napoli midfielder, Jorginho and back-up goalkeeper, Rob Green.

Competition in midfield may become even fiercer as Chelsea have been linked with a loan deal for Real Madrid's Mateo Kovacic ahead of tomorrow's transfer deadline day. But the nail in the coffin was not even being on the bench during Chelsea's recent Community Shield loss to Manchester City.
