Crystal Palace Will Be Harder Than You Think, Liverpool Legend Says

Jurgen Klopp admits he is willing to allow some of Liverpool's fringe players to leave before the end of the August.

Zaha hit the net as Palace downed Fulham 2-0 at Craven Cottage to kick-start their Premier League campaign, and will be seeking to step up again when the Eagles host Liverpool on Monday night.

But Klopp warned Palace at Selhurst Park provides an altogether different prospect and challenged his side to "stay angry".

Estonia defender Ragnar Klavan is expected to join Cagliari, while Simon Mignolet, Lazar Markovic, Sheyi Ojo, Marko Grujic and Dominic Solanke might all attract interest.

Joe Gomez looks likely to be tasked with stopping Benteke, alongside Virgil van Dijk, in another welcome outing in his preferred centre-back position.

"Joel is close to being back".

"I really think we could give a few players the opportunity but we have to see how many".

"We've made it clear to him that we were grateful of course for what he did for us last season".

"It's not about the competition between them, it's strikers who love playing together, I don't think they are bothered in the moment about specific number of goals, they only want to win football games".

Gomez delivered an assured and mature performance in his preferred centre-back role, and the Englishman flourished with the pressure on to impress his manager with World Cup finalist Lovren also waiting in the wings to return to first-team action. It is very, very good that a player of his ability has committed his long-term future to the club.

Although English teams can't buy players until January, they can still sell to European clubs for the rest of August and Klopp says business could be done at Anfield - but only at the right price.

"Now he is fit, which is very good. It's quite hard. He's 23 and all the other clubs are not blind, so we were lucky we could do very unusual business a bit early and wait for him". Dejan is still a bit injured, but we have Nat Phillips and, if we need it, then Fabinho can play the position as well, so that's good.

'I don't know that you can necessarily stop them for 90 minutes from getting anywhere near your goal - that might be too strong an objective.
