James Mattis Reportedly Ignored Trump’s Order To ‘F**king Kill’ Bashar Assad

WASHINGTON-The White House said a new book from Bob Woodward on the Trump presidency was "nothing more than fabricated stories, many by former disgruntled employees", following news reports about the book earlier Tuesday.

While Woodward says the book comes from firsthand reporting, he does not directly identify many sources for the quotes he includes.

At one point the president confronted Rob Porter, his staff secretary who had also taken a lead role in trade policy, over the failure to pull out of Nafta.

But it doesn't stop at the walls of the West Wing, which is why I want to focus on what Trump said about Sessions. He's this dumb Southerner. One reason McMaster dresses as he does is that he has spent his life serving his country, rather than making money.

Living up to his "Mad Dog" nickname, General Mattis released an unfiltered statement on Tuesday afternoon denying the accusations and slamming Woodward for his "uniquely Washington brand of literature".

Dowd reportedly told the president: "Don't testify". "Don't testify. It's either that or an orange jumpsuit", he reportedly said. "I guess I can bring it right to the president next time", she admits. For this book, Woodward spoke to top aides and other insiders with the understanding that he would not reveal how he got his information, the Post reported. "That's his nature", Dowd said to Mueller, according to CNN's account.

Aides had to resort to sleight of hand to prevent the worst from happening - including removing papers from Trump's desk before he signed them. Lindsay Graham of SC, to put in a good word for him as well. Trump fired him five months later. According to Woodward, the interview did not go well. "I'm in the process of making some of the greatest trade deals ever to be made", Trump boasted, according to a transcript of the August 14 interview with Woodward released by the Post. "It would've been nice, Bob, if you called for me, in my office. But never once - never - did I think Woodward made it up", Mr Fleischer said. Hours after the Post and CNN published excerpts of Woodward's book, there has been no formal push-back or denial from the president or his staff. National security advisers instead developed options for the airstrike that Trump ultimately ordered. "Did you speak to Madeleine?" the President asked Woodward.

One topic looming over the administration was Robert Mueller's investigation of the President's ties to Russian Federation, and the book reveals the debate between Trump and his lawyers over whether he should testify. He's gone off the rails.

Chief of staff John Kelly told colleagues he saw Trump as "unhinged" and "an idiot".

"The idea I ever called the President an idiot is not true", Mr Kelly said in a statement.

The veteran White House chronicler describes a coalition of like-minded aides and cabinet secretaries plotting to prevent the impulsive U.S. president from destroying the world trade system, undermining United States national security and sparking military conflicts.

Mr Trump's knowledge of foreign affairs left Mr Mattis thinking that his boss had the intelligence level of an 11-year-old, the book says.

"They don't tell me", Trump replied, indicating no one relayed the request. After Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad launched a chemical attack on Syrians in April 2017, Trump is said to have demanded Mattis launch an assassination attempt.

"I wouldn't let him see it".

Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis is quoted as explaining to Trump why the USA maintains troops on the Korean peninsula to monitor the North's missile activities.
