Kim Kardashian West is trying to free another convicted felon

Kim Kardashian West is trying to free another convicted felon

"We have to change the laws", Kardashian said in a statement released by #cut50, a group that looks to reduce incarceration time.

Deputy press secretary Hogan Gidley described the meeting on Wednesday in the White House as a "listening session about the clemency process", stressing that "the discussion is mainly focused on ways to improve that process to ensure deserving cases receive a fair review".

President Donald Trump poses with Kim Kardashian at the Oval Office at The White House in May. Instead, his daughter - who introduced Kardashian to Kushner - sat at one end of the table, with her husband at the other, photos show. One week later Trump granted the 63-year-old clemency, freeing her from prison after a more than a two-decade stint on drug charges.

Kim Kardashian West is keeping up with the White House.

Kardashian shared on social media on Wednesday an interview she did for podcast "Wrongful Conviction", hosted by Jason Flom. Shortly after Kardashian West's meeting with the president about Johnson, the president commuted the grandmother's sentence.

"Yesterday, I had a call with a gentleman that's in prison for a drug case - got life", she said on the podcast.

Young is serving a life sentence on nonviolent drug charges, but recently, the judge in his case, Kevin Sharp, wrote a letter to Trump arguing that Young only played a minor role in the drug conspiracy and that the mandatory sentencing laws that determined his sentence was out of proportion with the crime. He was only twenty-six years old.

The Dallas Morning News reported in June that Brittany K. Barnett, who was a member of Johnson's legal team, was also working to get Young released.

That's according to a White House official who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the official was not authorized to discuss the matter on the record.

It seems that Kim Kardashian wants to try her luck another time with President Donald Trump.

"He was saying "I can stay out of trouble in here [the medical facility], but going in prison there's stabbings, there's this and if you're near that you can get in trouble so easily".
