Twitter Is Permanently Banning Conspiracy Theorist Alex Jones

"That's why you didn't get elected, because you're snake-like". "Thank God Trump is".

The account for Infowars, Jones' media site where he spreads conspiracy theories, has also been suspended.

Rolling his eyes, Rubio says, "I didn't say that, either".

Rubio laughed off the comments, but Jones continued. "I don't know you, I don't know who you".

"I don't know who you are, man", Rubio said. And Alex Jones appears to have spent the rest of the afternoon mad.

The incident became heated after Jones touched Rubio on the shoulder.

"InfoWars.com, you know what it is, full well", Jones said.

The ban comes one month after Facebook, YouTube and Apple removed Jones and Infowars' accounts from their platforms, raising pressure on Twitter to follow suit.

If you are a neo-Nazi, a Russian bot, Alex Jones, or anyone else spreading lies that endanger lives, you're not entitled to a platform. You're not going to silence America.

On Wednesday, before confronting Rubio, Jones held a freewheeling gaggle with reporters outside the Senate hearing room where Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg and Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey were set to testify.

"You are literally like a little gangster thug", he said.

He then went on to sit in the front row of the Senate hearing, which quizzed various executives from social media giants, and repeatedly interrupted Senator Marcus Rubio during questioning. "I don't really read your website". The companies deny that's happening and there is no reliable evidence to support Jones' charge.

OK, we just have to preface this whole thing by making something super clear: we are NOT on Marco Rubio's side. "The Democrats are raping the Republicans!"

Jones, clearly relishing the successful provocation, said: "He'll beat me up!"

As the interview wraps up, Rubio tells the assembled throng of reporters, "You guys can talk to this clown".

Jones has harassed the parents of victims of the Sandy Hook elementary school massacre, accusing them of being actors playing a part in a mass shooting hoax. Further, The CNN reporter claims previous disciplinary actions against Jones were due to "hate speech" and "harassment" - not political ideology.
